Instant approval credit cards

January 15th, 2010
Comments Off

Gone are the days when you would have to wait from two weeks to a month to get a credit card application approved. With the introduction of instant approval credit cards, response time has been reduced from days to minutes (even seconds!) and the turnaround time to complete the whole process has been shortened. Thanks to the internet, people are now able to apply for this type of credit cards online.

Instant approval credit cards have attractive perks just like your conventional credit card. Credit card companies who market this type of credit card would either offer travel packages or waive the annual fees, or even offer cash back benefits.

While the whole idea may be enticing, interested credit card applicants are advised to always check the fine print, as they would on other contract agreements. Terms and conditions in credit card applications may have a clause that either states about fees for late payments or interest rates being subject to change without prior notice or both. Whether you consent to these conditions or not, it is best that you know what kind of transaction you have entered as this would better prepare you once you start paying regularly for your credit card.

Applying for instant approval credit cards could be done either offline (by filling up the traditional paper form) or online. While both ensure security of your information, it is best to make sure that whoever or whatever system is going to receive your credit card application details, it goes directly to the credit card company and not to anyone else.

Identity Theft 101

November 29th, 2009
Comments Off

Most people who have become identity theft victims have been overwhelmed by what they need to do in this situation. Identity theft can happen to anyone and many times you may have done nothing to cause this.

If you think that you have been a victim of identity theft, it is imperative that you take action immediately and start to work on the damage that was done by the identity thief.

First, determine what happened. Misplaced credit cards, drivers licenses, Social Security numbers and other financial items should be canceled or reported as soon as possible.

Reporting these will ensure that they can no longer be used by anyone. You should also make sure that no purchases have occurred that were not made by you. Consult with your credit card company to get through this tough situation and to insure that you will not be held liable.

You should also be sure to review your credit report as soon as you can. You can order a free credit report online. Be sure that everything on your report is correct. If you find a problem, be sure report it right away.

Checking your credit report can either put you to rest that you have not suffered from identity theft or can show you where to look when your identity has been stolen. If you ever find accounts listed that you are not aware of it can be a sign that you have been struck by identity theft. Also make sure you check the addresses listed to be sure no one has tried to get credit under your name using a different address. If you do find any problems with your credit report it is important that you get in touch with the lenders to find out what is going on and to let them know that you never opened that account. You can find the numbers of these lenders actually on the credit report to make it easy to contact lenders about the identity theft.

After you have made the initial reports you will need to go on working with the lenders to get to the bottom of the problem. At times you may even need the help of an attorney to help you get through some of this identity theft process. It is important that you take measure to protect yourself and be aware of what you can do if you ever are the victim of identity theft.
