The lake is the largest natural lake in the western United States.It has a one hundred sixty mile shoreline and covers over two hundred square miles of the Montana.This 300 ft. deep lake is continually filled with fresh water by the two rivers.
 
 Access to this area is available by two major highways:  U.S. Route 35, on the east side and Highway 93, on the west side.Both wind around the lake’s shores and offer breathtaking views of the lake, the mountains and beautiful surrounding territory.  There are many secluded piers that have wonderful restaurants and saloons where you can have a great meal and enjoy adult ‘libations’ and just relax.You will find several islands on the Southern end of the lake. 
 
 Surprisingly, due to location, this lake holds the summer’s warmth and there are few bad freezes during the wintertime. There are many beautiful attractions in addition to ‘Glacier National Park’ and ‘Big Mountain Ski Resort’.There are nine top rated golf courses located very close by.
 
 The communities that surround the lake or are close by are: Waterside Condominiums Complex, Polson, Somers, Lakeside, Kalispell, Elmo and Bigfork. Each community has permanent residents that proudly celebrate their own community traditions, along with their own blend of outdoor adventures.Some of these communities have their own Chamber of Commerce, and their own newspaper.
