Preparing Your Home For Holiday Guests And Weekend Parties

Are you planning a big party over the holidays? Are you the host of many a weekend get-together or a Friday night party? If you are, there’s a lot of ways you can make your home party central with just a few simple steps.

One of the best ways to make your guests comfortable is to regulate the temperature in your home. You can do this without breaking the bank, too. You don’t always have to turn the heater way up or run the air conditioner nonstop to regulate conditions. If your guests are too hot, break out a small portable fan and direct it towards a large area of the house to circulate stale air.

Another way to help your guests stay comfortable is to warm up the air in your house with home space heaters. These come in several different sizes and can be placed just about anywhere. They are very affordable and portable, and their thermostats can be turned up or down as much as necessary based on how much heat you need to circulate.

Providing enough food for company at a party is a must. There’s nothing that promotes a good conversation like appetizing foods made in a convection oven or prepared on a grill. Finger foods, such as deviled eggs, fudge squares, dip and veggie trays, cookies, and other hors d’oeuvres, will keep your company satisfied while you’re cooking the meal or while playing games.

Providing entertainment with non-alcoholic drinks is another good way to keep your friends happy and able to drive home safely. Many frozen or chilled drinks can be blended in a blender or food processor and poured into colorful glasses or crystal. Serve on a tray or charger for a beautiful presentation.

Don’t rely on food and drinks to keep your guests occupied the entire time, however. You need to provide another form of entertainment to keep them coming back to your house for other parties. When hosting a holiday festivity, consider hiring a pianist or a band to perform Christmas music. If you’re hosting a party during summer or spring, set up a croquet or mini golf course, volleyball net, or football area for kids and teens. These activities will keep your guests occupied while you’re entertaining.

Did you realize you could be the life of the party just by providing disposable plates, cups, napkins, and silverware with plenty of trash receptacles? Guests don’t like to bring their dishes back to a full kitchen; it’s much easier on both you and your guests if you provide trash bins around the house or garage so they dump their plates whenever they feel like it and leave you with very little cleanup.
